Now a yearly tradition, the 6th annual Digital Family Reunion, Southern California’s most vibrant gathering of technology and digital media industry leaders, will take on new significance this year, as it returns to the Skirball Cultural Center and partners with socalTECH.com to publish the inaugural socalTECH 50.
This socalTECH 50 list will recognize the newest influential visionaries, entrepreneurs and others throughout the region who are most likely to create the next breakout company, technological leap, or otherwise influence the industry in a significant way. Nominated and selected by industry peers, the socalTECH 50 will be unveiled on the socalTECH website in the days leading up to DFR ’13.
DFR ’13 will be held on Wednesday, December 11, from 6 to 10 p.m. A private VIP/press event honoring the SoCalTECH 50 will take place beforehand from 4 to 6 p.m. The Skirball Cultural Center is located at 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90049. Working to build community with over 40 networking organizations and professional associations, DFR invites professionals from a spectrum of tech and business sectors to join together in celebration of their common interests during one extraordinary night of networking.
“Partnering with an established and well-respected industry event like DFR provides an effective way for us to step into event production and creates a perfect platform from which to introduce the socalTECH 50 to the industry,” said Benjamin Kuo, founder of socalTECH.com.
In addition to the socalTECH 50, each year the DFR bestows its Outstanding Achievement Honor on an entrepreneur whose extraordinary personal success has contributed meaningfully to the local digital economy. Former recipients of the honor have included Atari founder Nolan Bushnell (2008); True Car founder Scott Painter (2009); Clearstone Ventures (formerly Idealab) leader William Quigley (2010); serial entrepreneur Eric Pulier (2011) and super-recruiter Jim Jonassen (2012).
Among the sponsors confirmed to exhibit or present at the 2013 event are Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp., Demand Media, Internap, Cresa Los Angeles, PIXT and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by contacting Robyn Dickson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
